Pumpkin Patch at Von Thun’s
Fall isn’t fall without a pumpkin – or three! Our pumpkin patches opens in mid-September and is open through Halloween. That’s right, we said PATCHES – we have one patch that you’re able to walk to on weekdays and one that you can only get to via hayride on the weekends during our Fall Festival Weekends.
Everyone entering our picking fields over the age of 2 need to purchase admission to the field ($3 per person, included in Fall Festival General Admission) from the farm market upon arrival as well as a picking container. No reservations needed.
Pumpkins are $0.75/ lb, $2.50 minimum.
The Walk-To Patch
We have a “Walk-To” patch located near one of our apple orchards with our apple picking guests in mind. The Walk-To Patch is filled with lots of Jack-o-Lantern pumpkins and is decorated with fun and whimsical wooden cartoon characters. Our walk-to patch is open on weekdays ONLY.
Main Patch
Located on the back acres of the farm, this pumpkin patch requires a hayride to visit (available with Festival Admission). Filled with pumpkins and gourds of all shapes and sizes, it’s also home to many cartoon characters and photo ops!
Good to know …
- Pumpkins are technically a fruit. Fruit does rot, and so do pumpkins. Although many pumpkins hold up well all Fall and last well past Thanksgiving, we cannot tell when any given pumpkin will rot. We unfortunately cannot, therefore guarantee that all pumpkins will last until Halloween.
- Although any type of pumpkin can be used for cooking or baking, cheese pumpkins and sugar pumpkins are the best pumpkins to use for pie making.
- Many different type pumpkins, gourds, and hubbards can be found in our pumpkin patches.
- Canned pumpkin and fresh pumpkin are interchangeable in recipes.
