The month of October just isn’t complete without a trip to a local pumpkin patch. Here at VonThun Farms, we don’t just have one pumpkin patch, we have 2! We hope you’ll take the time to visit them both!
The ‘Walk-To Patch’…
The Pumpkin Patch located near the orchard was planted with our apple picking guests in mind. The patch is filled with lots of Jack-O’Lantern pumpkins, and is decorated with fun and whimsical wooden cartoon characters. There is no cost to enter the pumpkin patch, you just pay for what you pick.
The Main Patch…
Located on the back acres of the farm, this Pumpkin Patch requires a hayride to visit. Filled with pumpkins and gourds of all shapes and sizes, this pumpkin patch is home to many cartoon characters as well as many other photo ops. Located near the Pumpkin Patch are our Corn Cannons and Pumpkin Blaster … two of our favorite fall family activities! Access to this Pumpkin Patch and hayride require admission to our activity area. Get those details.
U-Pick Pumpkins…Our 2017 pumpkin price will be determined by the current market price this fall.
- Pumpkins are technically a fruit. Fruit does rot, and so do pumpkins. Although many pumpkins hold up well all fall and last well past Thanksgiving, we cannot tell when any given pumpkin will rot. We unfortunately cannot, therefore guarantee that all pumpkins will last until Halloween.
- Although any type of pumpkin can be used for cooking or baking, cheese pumpkins and sugar pumpkins are the best pumpkins to use for pie making.
- Many different type pumpkins, gourds, and hubbards can be found in our pumpkin patches.
- Canned pumpkin and fresh pumpkin are interchangeable in recipes.
